Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty Is a Calcutta's classical singer born in west Bengal of India,1952. He is very muck known as Hindustani classical vocalist.
He is a veritable trendsetter, demonstrating a knowledge diverse forms of classical, light-classical and even modern vocal music. He learnt from Shri. Pannalal Samanta and Shri. Kanai Das Bairagi and later became a student of Padma Bhushan Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. In 1969, his training took a decisive turn as he became a disciple of Ustad Munawar Ali Khan and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.
He was the first recipient of the Kumar Gandharva Award the most prestigious National Award for the best musician of India under forty-five years of age.
His mazmarizing singing really spell bounded the audience.
