Hemanta Mukherjee was born city Varanasi, India. June 16, 1920 and died September 26, 1989. He was an Indian multitalented singer, composer and producer. He also had known as Hemanta Kumar under Hindi film. To quote Hemant Kumar himself,"I would always be on the lookout for a chance to sing . Be it a religious festival or just a family gathering I would enjoy singing any new song that Ihad picked up."
- His first song recorded in 1933 in all India radio later 1937 his first album release in gramophone dise. His first Hindi songs were kitana dukh bhulaya tumne and o preet nibhabewali, released in 1940.
Hemanta is considered a foremost exponent of Rabindra sangeet. Hemanta
recorded his first Rabindra sangeet disc in 1944. His first movie as a music
director was the Bengali film Abhiyatri in 1947.
In the latter part of the 1950s, Hemanta composed music and sang for several
Bengali and Hindi films, recorded several Rabindrasangeets and Bengali
non-film songs.
In 1979, Hemanta re-recorded some of his earlier works with composer Salil
Chowdhury from the 1940s and 1950s. In September 1989, he traveled to Dhaka,
Bangladesh to receive the Michael Madhusudan Award.
